The Texans will give the Titans a belated Christmas gift on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said he would play his best players and play to win the game, a decision many thought wasn’t the smartest move since the Texans already wrapped up the AFC South and earned a spot in the playoffs.
Given the fact that the Tennessee Titans, their opponent on Sunday, have pretty much everything riding on this game, which means this game will be even more physical than a normal game, sitting quarterback Deshaun Watson is by far the best move. While no, you never want to lay down for your opponent, you can risk the possibility of any unnecessary injuries, especially to your quarterback.
With the playoffs starting next week, they need their team at 100 percent. News broke last week that defensive end J.J. Watt should in all likelihood be ready for that game, after being out with a torn pectoral muscle since October.
The Titans, with a victory in Houston, claim the final wild card spot and will play a road playoff game next week when the playoffs kick off. While their offense will still need to play their game and score points, the defense should have an easier time with A.J. Mccarron under center as opposed to Watson, for sure. DeAndre Hopkins will reportedly see limited action, as well.
Texans expected to rest multiple starters against Titans in advance of likely playoff game next Saturday, currently slated to host Bills. Among key players who could be rested: Deshaun Watson, Laremy Tunsil, Bradley Roby, DeAndre Hopkins. A.J. McCarron would step in for Watson

Everything that the Titans need to happen has fallen into place. Now, they just need to go out and win.
