The former first-round selection from the 2016 NFL Draft was benched on Sunday for what Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians described as a “lack of hustle.”
The Texans will inherit the pro-rated remainder of his $2,383,317 salary (which his now approximately $930,000) for the 2019 NFL season. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay will save the same amount in both cap relief and outgoing cash.
Hargreaves is the second former first-round cornerback Houston has acquired during the 2019 season. Two weeks ago, the team traded a 2020 third-round pick to the Oakland Raiders for Gareon Conley.
The Buccaneers have promoted rookie corner Mazzi Wilkins from the practice squad to the active roster to fill the spot vacated by Hargreaves.
