Report: Saints to Sign Latavius Murray

The Saints intend to sign running back Latavius Murray to a four-year, $14.4 million deal when the new league year begins Wednesday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The fifth-year running back has spent the last two seasons in Minnesota where he rushed for a total 1,420 yards and 14 touchdowns. Before that, he spent three years in Oakland, where a breakout season in 2016 saw him rush for 12 touchdowns in 14 games.

The signing also confirms multiple reports that free agent Mark Ingram would not return to New Orleans for his ninth season with the team.

By signing Murray, New Orleans will try to replicate the success of last year’s rushing attack that featured both Ingram and Alvin Kamara and ranked sixth in the NFL with 126.6 yards per game.
