Report: Russell Wilson Has a Receiver on His Wishlist

Russell Wilson

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has apparently set aside his unhappiness and is looking to continue his legacy in the Pacific Northwest. After all but demanding a trade after a season where opposing rushers hit him an extremely high number of times, he will stay put.

The team extended Tyler Lockett, to pair with D.K. Metcalf. Seattle on paper is just one more receiver away from being all set in the passing game. One receiving option still available, after Willie Snead and Sammy Watkins who were the top two names on the team’s wishlist signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens respectively, is the guy Wilson himself has been lobbying for the Seahawks to sign. Super Bowl champion, Antonio Brown.

Brown is the only member of the Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers that has yet to be re-signed so Bruce Arians, Tom Brady, and company can attempt to run it back. He proved in his half-season with the Bucs after being reinstated by the NFL that if he stays out of trouble, he’s still a playmaker in the league.

Combining Brown, Lockett, and Metcalf as targets for Wilson would be a matchup nightmare for opposing pass coverages. Injury issues have seemed to plague this team the last few seasons. Therefore, a trio of receivers with speed for a quarterback that has had a short window to find his targets would be just what the Seahawks need to take this team to this next level. The level of, not that long ago, a yearly deep-January postseason contender and another Super Bowl appearance. For Wilson, it will keep him in the MVP conversation past the halfway point of the season. Plus, finally, take home his first MVP Award.
