Report: Redskins Sign Peyton Barber

The Washington Redskins have signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber, Greg Auman of The Athletic has reported.

Also per Auman, the deal is worth $3 million over two years and carries $600,000 in guaranteed money.

Barber, 26, joined the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and subsequently led the team in rushing in both 2017 and 2018 before giving way to Ronald Jones II in 2019.

The four-year veteran finished his career in Tampa rushing 551 times for 1,987 yards and 15 touchdowns while hauling in 57 receptions on 78 targets for 349 yards and two touchdowns.

With Tampa Bay widely expected to draft a running back to pair with Jones II in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, Barber became expendable for a Buccaneers team that has seen its cap space dry up rather quickly with the high profile signings of Tom Brady, Shaquil Barrett, and Jason Pierre-Paul.

The former Auburn product joins a crowded Redskins backfield that already features future Hall-on-Famer Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, Bryce Love, and J.D. McKissic.
