The Massachusetts Pirates continue to be busy this offseason, bringing back wide receiver Mardy Gilyard.
The 32-year-old had an immense impact in his first season with the team, finding pay dirt 23 total touchdowns.
“For me once we got Sean [Brackett] and all that it was a no-brainer to come back,” Gilyard said. “So we can repeat what we did last year minus the loss in the first round and add a couple more wins and a ring to that at the end of the day.”
While he did entertain offers elsewhere, Gilyard knew all along where he wanted to play.
“I’m loyal to the cause and when I say something I mean it.” Gilyard said. “So I told our president he had nothing to worry about, made sure that the organization they had nothing to worry about when they came to me and made this connection as smooth as we could and like I said loyalty and like I said at the end of the day it wasn’t about dollars and cents, it’s about loyalty.”
Now with pen to paper, Gilyard is ready to continue what he started with the Pirates.
“We’re going to give everything we have to them,” Gilyard said. “Personally, I’m gonna make sure I’m always gonna be in the community, I’m always gonna be pushing love, just pack the ‘Cove’ for us, we’re gonna give you a good show, we’re gonna give you a dam good show.”
