The New England Patriots always love keeping their options open as the team brought in five players for workouts.
The players the team brought in included former Oakland Raider fourth-round selection Connor Cook.
Cook, 25, has a career 83.4 passer rating with 14 pass completions on 21 attempts passing for a single touchdown and an interception.
The Patriots brought in two offensive skill players in tight end Shane Wimann and wide receiver Devin Ross.
Wimann, 24, has been on and off the Patriots roster and was released from injured reserve on a settlement this past preseason. As a senior at Northern Illinois in 2017, Wimann had 30 receptions for 283 yards and a team high seven scores.
Ross, 23, played primarily slot receiver this preseason with the Tennessee Titans catching six passes for 80 yards. The Colorado alum injured his ankle and was subsequently placed on injured reserve before being released on an injury settlement shortly after.
The Patriots brought in two on defense which included former Cincinnati Bengal defensive end Will Clarke and Chicago Bear Kasim Edebali.
Clark, 27, a West Virginia alum has seven career sacks with four coming in the 2016 season. He has special teams experience and historically anyone with versatility in that area is somebody who Patriots head coach Bill Belichick takes interest in.
Edebali, 29, went undrafted in 2014 and has played primarily as a substitute edge rusher and special teams player. The linebacker has played for six different teams with his longest stay being with the New Orleans Saints from 2014 to 2016.
