Report: Patriots Trade Safety to Detroit

It has been an eventful offseason to the Patriots so far this year, and that trend seems to be continuing.

In a relatively shocking move, the Patriots have traded veteran safety Duron Harmon to the Lions. Harmon has been with the team for seven years and has three rings with New England.

The move creates roughly $4.5 million in cap space for the team, so there is some reasoning behind the transaction. The two sides are reportedly swapping late-round picks as well.

The Pats still have Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung on the roster to take over the starting spots, but this move definitely leaves yet another hole in Bill Belichick’s defense that has already lost Kyle Van Noy, Jamie Collins, Danny Shelton and now Harmon.

The Patriots have lost their “closer.”
