The New England Patriots have decided who has won the punter battle.
Per Mike Reiss first reported by Boston Globe reporter Jim McBride, the New England Patriots have released their three-time Super Bowl champion Ryan Allen.
Allen, 29, was a two-time Ray Guy Award winner in college and went undrafted to the Patriots.
In his rookie season, he unseated Zoltan Mesko and at almost the identical age he stepped in, fifth round pick Jake Bailey will take his place.
Bailey proved his versatility being able to be a kickoff specialist along with his long hang time on punts.
