Report: Patriots Release Pass Rusher After 10 Games With Team

The New England Patriots are continuing to make changes to their roster as the team has cut ties with defensive end/outside linebacker Cassius Marsh after appearing for five total games with the team.

Marsh (25) was acquired for a 5th round and 7th round draft choice to add another pass rushing presence to their roster.

Marsh was however only able to muster up a lone sack with 19 combined tackles. Belichick and the Patriots seem content with what they have at the position as the defense has improved dramatically.

The great play of former Bengals linebacker Marquis Flowers who they also traded for, made it easier for the team to cut loose with Marsh.

The Patriots signed defensive end Eric Lee off of the Buffalo Bills practice squad to take his Marsh’s on the 53 man roster.

Overall, the move is a head scratcher. Marsh when healthy, added pass rushing depth to the squad and replacing him with Lee who has no experience makes the swap hard to wrap your head around. While it doesn’t make the team worse letting Marsh go, it certainly doesn’t make the team any better.

The Patriots will take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. to try and improve to 9-2 on the season.
