Although his stint with the team lasted only 11 days, polarizing wideout Antonio Brown sure did leave a mark on his coaches and teammates. In fact, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, many players reportedly wouldn’t mind having the receiver back on the team.
Jason La Canfora is normally a reliable source when it comes to the Patriots, so it’s safe to say his report is likely true.
With numerous Patriots players, including Tom Brady, often liking and commenting on Brown’s social media posts, they have not been hiding their friendship and support of their former teammate.
As this report claims, and has been the case ever since Brown was released, the only holdup between an eventual reunion is owner, Robert Kraft, and it’s tough to blame him for his hesitation considering the comments Brown made about Kraft regarding the off-the-field issue he dealt with earlier in the year regarding a certain massage parlor in Florida.
However, as everyone has been saying, you’re going to have to pay the guy either way, so what’s the harm in bringing him back? This entire ordeal, of course, is contingent on Brown’s innocence regarding the multiple sexual assault allegations that have followed him all year.
As the saying goes, time heals all wounds. Has enough time passed for this wound to be healed between Kraft and Brown? Only time will tell, but there is clearly still interest from both parties involved. If Brown’s name is cleared in the court of law as well as the all-important court of public opinion, could the two sides join forces again for a playoff run?
We’ll see. Business may be boomin’ soon enough up in Foxboro.
