In a disappointing end to a happy reunion, the New England Patriots have placed tight end Martellus Bennett on season-ending injured reserve.
Jim McBride tweeted out the news from a league source within the hour.

Bennett tried to play through the injury but unfortunately for him it may have been too much to handle.
The 30 year old will most likely be heading for surgery and will also be mulling his retirement.
Safety Nate Ebner’s injury was as bad as we thought as the special teamer will also be placed on season-ending IR.
McBride also reported on this injury today.

Ebner who signed a two-year extension in 2016, was named a Second Team All-Pro the same year. He is a favorite of the Patriots coaching staff and is a piece that will be missed on special teams unit.
