The New England Patriots are maintaining stability on defense with an inevitable overhaul coming on offense.
Per Ian Rapoport, the team has picked up the contract option of cornerback Jason McCourty.
The #Patriots intend to pick up the contract option for veteran CB Jason McCourty, sources say. That would put him at nearly $4M for 2020. In February, @McCourtyTwins Jason version said on RapSheet + Friends, "I definitely plan on playing next year." https://t.co/0iWxG3RATf

The former Cleveland Brown was traded along with a seventh-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for a sixth-round draft selection in 2018. This paired him with his twin brother Devin for the first time since both played at Rutgers University.
McCourty signed a two-year $10 million extension in 2019, but had his sophomore Patriots season hampered with injuries.
On the flipside, Devin is set to become a free agent in less than three weeks when the league year begins on March 18.
