The New England Patriots may not just be standing by after all as the team has reportedly put in offer on the table for a quarterback.

Former Cincinnati Bengals backup quarterback A.J. McCarron reportedly received an offer from the Patriots according to Kirk Minihane of WEEI.

The Patriots currently have Tom Brady (40) and Brian Hoyer (32) at the quarterback position but may want to go relatively younger at backup with McCarron (27) as Brady’s time with the team may soon be up.

Update: Minihane’s reported offer the Patriots gave McCarron has come out as false according to Boston Globe’s Jim McBride in another announcement.
