Report: Patriots Lose Solder to Familiar Foe

The second day of free agency begins on a sour not for the New England Patriots as left tackle Nate Solder has agreed to terms with the New York Giants.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news within the hour.

The deal is a four-year contract worth $62 million with $35 million guaranteed making him the highest paid tackle in the NFL.

The Patriots for the first time in the Brady/Belichick era may have to deal with uncertainty at the left tackle position as the only listed tackle behind Solder on the unofficial depth chart was LaAdrian Waddle. There have also been speculative reports that the team may move right tackle Marcus Cannon over to the blind side but as of now there has been nothing concrete.
