A fan favorite just might return to the New England Patriots after one season away from the team.
According to The Athletic Patriots beat reporter Jeff Howe, former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Danny Amendola and the Patriots reportedly have “mutual interest” in a reunion.
There’s mutual interest between Danny Amendola and the Patriots, per sources. We’ll see if it amounts to a reunion or not, but the possibility exists.

While it’s still speculation at this point, the move makes sense for both sides. The New England Patriots are in dire need for receiver depth with Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman the only top receiver under contract and Amendola is already familiar with the system already in place in Foxboro.
Unfortunately for Patriots fans the reunion will not come to fruition as Amendola has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions. The move reunites the receiver with former Patriots defensive coordinator and Lions head coach Matt Patricia.
NFL free agency will open when the league year officially begins on March 13.
