The Houston Rockets have traded former MVP and disgruntled guard James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in a four-team trade. This blockbuster deal also includes the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers.
This swap has reshaped the landscape of the NBA, creating new eras in both Houston and in Indiana. This trade will reunite Kevin Durant and James Harden since their time in Oklahoma City in 2012, where they lost the Finals to LeBron James and the Miami Heat.
Brooklyn Nets receive:
- Guard James Harden
Houston Rockets receive:
- Guard Victor Oladipo
- Guard Dante Exum
- Forward Rodions Kurucs
- Three Brooklyn first-round picks (‘22, ‘24, ‘26)
- One Milwaukee first-round pick (from Cleveland, ‘22 unprotected)
- Four first-round pick swaps (‘21, ‘23, ‘25, ‘27)
Cleveland Cavaliers receive:
- Center Jarrett Allen
- Forward Taurean Prince
Indiana Pacers receive:
- Guard Caris Levert
- Future second-round pick
Harden is the centerpiece here, but this swap will undeniably having long-term ramifications for all teams involved. With 20 assets changing hands, this trade could go down as one of the biggest in recent memory.
