Major League Baseball has announced that they will be suspending Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and manager A.J. Hinch for the 2020 season –– while also docking the team their first and second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 draft.
On top of that, the 2017 World Series Champions have been fined $5 million.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan also reported that Red Sox manager Alex Cora is going to be punished soon and, given his involvement with the cheating scandal that led to two World Series Championships, is bound for a much harsher punishment.
It is technically not a year-long suspension for Jeff Luhnow and AJ Hinch. Their suspensions begin today and conclude the day after the 2020 World Series ends.
It is still a massive suspension — and considering Alex Cora's apparently culpability, his is bound to be far longer.
