Blake Swihart’s adopted brother Romell Jordan has passed away. The Red Sox have formally acknowledged the reports.
Very tough news to pass along. Romell Jordan, the great Cleveland High RB who was a crucial member of Storm’s perfect 2011 season, has died. Apparently this morning, in Hobbs.

Prior to today’s split-squad scrimmage spring training games, Red Sox manager Alex Cora canceled media availability and apparently held a meeting with players. Shortly after, David Price tweeted out a message of unity and solidarity with his teammates.
Through triumph, tragedy, and heartbreak this team/organization sticks together!! @redsox #extendedfamily

Cora spoke to the media after 10 a.m. and was visibly emotional. The Red Sox announced that there was a family emergency regarding one of the players.
Later, it was reported that Swihart was scratched from his game against the Orioles.
Swihart’s parents took in Jordan after his mother’s passing when he was in high school. His parents obtained legal guardianship of Jordan and Swihart and he looked at each other as brothers.
For u that don't know. My parents took @RomellJordan in as a sophomore in high school. He IS my little brother! Anything will help

Swihart’s family and friends have already put out tributes to Jordan, who was a running back for the New Mexico Lobos from 2012-2015.
