The Detroit Lions continue to make moves ahead of the new league year. Now, they are signing free agent cornerback Justin Coleman, per NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.

The deal will pay Coleman $36 million over four seasons, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, which, as Pelissero mentioned, makes Coleman the highest paid nickel cornerback in the NFL.

After being signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent but later cut, Coleman spent the first two years of his career with the New England Patriots. Then, the Seattle Seahawks acquired him in exchange for a seventh-round pick, and so Seattle is where Coleman has spent his last two seasons.
In 2018, Coleman started five of the 16 games he played in, forcing a fumble and intercepting a pass while recording half of a sack and 55 tackles.
Although the Lions are still not expected to reach the playoffs next season, Matt Patricia and the front office continue to work to make strong moves to improve Detroit’s football team as they look to turn their bad luck around.
