Report: Lions, Jesse James Agree to Terms

To add on to an already busy day for the Detroit Lions, the team agreed to a one-year deal with free agent tight end Jesse James, a source tells NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo. Terms were not disclosed.

James, 25 in June, fills in at a feeble tight end position that would otherwise have felt the obvious absence of impending free agents Luke Willson and Levine Toilolo. Although James isn’t expected to be the last tight end the team signs, he is likely the best one.

Last season, James started seven of the Steelers’ 16 games (all of which he appeared in), hauling in 30 of the 39 passes headed his direction for a total of a career-best 423 yards. James found the end zone twice while also picking up the longest reception of his career: a catch that ended up resulting in a 51-yard gain for the Steelers.

Today’s four signings for Detroit are likely just the beginning of what should be a busy offseason for the Detroit Lions.
