Report: Key Special Teams Player Sent Home With “Serious” Injury

The New England Patriots will have to finish their road trip without one of the league’s best at special teams as captain Matthew Slater was reportedly sent home after doctors and coaches deemed his hamstring injury a “serious” one.

Slater has been dealing with the injury since the start of the season and has been playing through it for quite sometime which seems to have re-aggravated it.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported in a tweet that the All-Pro could be absent from the team’s game day roster for more than a week.

While losing arguably the best special teams player in the National Football League is not ideal, the emergence of Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead, and Brandon King should help the unit continue as the well-oiled machine that it is.
