Report: Joe Tessitore, Booger McFarland Will Not Return to Monday Night Football

According to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland will not be returning to the ESPN Monday Night Football crew. The worldwide leader in sports has made it evident that they wanted to replace the duo for a few months.

Tessitore and McFarland began broadcasting together on Monday Night Football in 2018 with Jason Witten. After receiving many negative reviews, Witten came out of retirement while Tessitore and McFarland continued to cover games in 2019.

There have not been any decisions as to who will replace Tessitore and McFarland yet, but the duo will remain in “prominent roles” at ESPN.

ESPN made attempts to acquire NBC commentator Al Michaels to have him cover Monday Night Football but they were rejected earlier this year. They have also reached out to retired quarterbacks Tony Romo and Peyton Manning, who have not accepted any offers for the role.

The first Monday Night Football broadcasts in the regular season will be a doubleheader on Sep. 14 when the New York Giants visit the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans face off against the Denver Broncos.
