Report: Jets to Sign Logan Ryan

After an offseason full of improvements, it appears that Joe Douglas and the Jets have made another move.

The Jets reportedly believe that they will be able to sign cornerback Logan Ryan to a one-year deal, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The Jets have had many internal discussions about their salary composition and if they could indeed pull off a deal for Ryan. The 29-year-old is one of the NFL’s more versatile defensive backs and would join an already strong Jets defense.

The two-time Super Bowl champion has spent time with the Patriots and Titans and was third in the NFL in passes defended with 18. He also boasted 4.5 sacks, four interceptions, eight quarterback hits, and 113 tackles last season.

This would be a homecoming of sorts for Ryan, who attended Rutgers University in New Jersey before being selected in the third round in 2013.

On Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty’s podcast, Ryan said that the Titans hadn’t even given him an offer and that he was only looking for a deal around $10 million per year.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound defensive wizard is going to bring grit, professionalism, a winning pedigree, and versatility to the Jets.

Ryan will join with fellow newcomers Pierre Desir, Quincy Wilson, and Ashtyn Davis as the newer additions to a Jets secondary that already contains Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye.
