The end of the Blake Bortles era has seemingly arrived in Jacksonville, as the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to land a new franchise quarterback this offseason.
According to Philly.com’s Les Bowen, the Jaguars are the one and only candidate to land former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles.
It is certainly early to predict any definitive landing spots for the NFL’s free agents, but Bowen seems confident in his assessment that the Jaguars are cemented as this offseason’s suitor for the former Super Bowl MVP.
The Jacksonville faithful have been toyed with the idea of Super Bowl contention in 2017, only to have the rug ripped out from under them in 2018. Dismal quarterback play, to go along with a weakened running back group, led to the Jaguars’ 5-11 season.
There are two big questions that come with the rumored marriage between Foles and the Jaguars.
? If Foles signs in Jacksonville, why would only one suitor have presented itself for a quarterback with Foles’s resume?
? How does this affect the draft’s quarterback class?
Many expected the Jaguars to grab one of the top quarterbacks available in the NFL Draft, but with Foles in tow, the Jaguars front office should have more flexibility this offseason.
