After going down to the wire with the Toronto Raptors for Kyle Lowry, the Miami Heat quickly pivoted back to the Houston Rockets and acquired Victor Oladipo. Oladipo finally gets his wish and lands in his preferred destination in Miami. Miami reportedly traded Kelly Olynyk, Avery Bradley, and a 2022 draft pick swap.

Even though Miami missed out on Lowry, they were still able to acquire another contributor without giving up much. Oladipo was originally traded to Houston as part of the James Harden trade. Oladipo got off to a slow start with Houston but has played better this month, averaging over 21.2 points per game in Houston. With Oladipo heading into free agency, he hopes to back to his all-star form before he ruptured his quad in 2019. This will be a chance for Oladipo to show he deserves a huge payday from Miami this summer.
Miami has another playmaker to play alongside Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Oladipo is also a good defender. You can play him with the closing lineup down the stretch. With Oladipo in the fold, Miami believes the move gives them a puncher’s chance in the tough eastern conference.
