Josh Gordon’s time in New England has come to an end.
Patriots placed WR Josh Gordon on IR due to his knee injury, per @FieldYates. His season now is over.

Per reports and sources, Gordon is healthy enough to be activated off of injured reserve and will most likely sign with a new team.
More on WR Josh Gordon: He exacerbated the bone bruises when he went down against the #Giants. It wasn’t a new injury suffered then. The team rested him a week, but he never looked quite right, I’m told. So IR now, he’ll work back to health, then land with a new team.

The #Patriots spent a 5th round pick and a little over $2.5M on WR Josh Gordon. For that, they received 17 starts, 60 catches for 1,007 yards and 4 TDs over two seasons. A solid investment, one they are now moving on from.

All players go through waivers when released starting next Wednesday (the day after the trading deadline). So, even though Josh Gordon is a vested veteran, he’d go on waivers if the #Patriots cut him off IR after that … meaning the likes of the #Dolphins would have first crack.

Gordon was recently reinstated in the summer and was in line to have a big role.
Unfortunately for Patriots fans, the team’s trade for Sanu means there is likely no need for Gordon any longer.
