Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic will undergo knee surgery Wednesday and is expected to be out for two months, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The report was later confirmed by the Heat.

The surgery is a knee scope, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Dragic had missed 12 of Miami’s last 14 games due to knee issues. The 32-year-old has a $19.2 million player option for the 2019-20 season. In 15 games this season, he’s averaging 15.3 points, 4.9 assists and 3.1 boards per game on 41 percent shooting from the field.

With Dragic out, the 13-16 Heat currently lacks a true veteran point guard on the roster. For now, they’ll continue to depend on a combination of Tyler Johnson, Justise Winslow, Dwyane Wade, and James Johnson to initiate the Heat’s offense. Heat forward Justise Winslow has started the last two games as the team’s point guard.

The Heat has one roster spot available, with the team carrying a league minimum 14 players over the first two months of the season. However, considering the team is $6.3 million above the luxury tax threshold, they may not sign a free agent point guard.
