Report: Derwin James Expected to Miss the 2020 Season

Former All-Pro safety Derwin James left practice a few days ago with an injury. It was initially described as a minor hamstring injury, however, that turned out not to be the case. Instead, James suffered a meniscus tear that will require surgery and a six to eight month recovery.

James is the focal point of the Los Angeles Chargers defense, so his injury is a major blow to the team. While it is still too soon to label James injury prone, he will now miss the entire 2020 season after missing 11 games last season. However, when he is on the field, he is arguably the best safety in the league.

To say the loss of James is a huge blow to the defense and the Chargers’ playoff hopes is an understatement.
