The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed 24-year-old restricted free agent J.T Compher to a four-year $14 million contract. Compher is on the verge of becoming a serious player for the Avs and many fans and media look to this coming year as a possible break out season.
Last season Compher scored 16 goals, had 16 assists and played 66 of the 82 possible games. The Avalanche and Joe Sakic have shown patience with both Compher and Tyson Jost and are willing to continue to mold them and put them into a position to thrive and develop. Re-signing him shows the team is dedicated to his growth and that they expect the young player to continue to earn his playing time by working hard.
The Colorado Avalanche have gotten contracts signed by Compher, Nikita Zadorov and Andre Burakovsky in the last few days, but the looming contract for Mikko Rantanen is what fans are looking forward to next. The young and incredibly talented forward was second on the roster in points last season to Nathan MacKinnon and is (rightfully) due a monster payday, shoring up this young, Stanley Cup Contending roster for the next five years.
