After just a couple of days on the free-agent market, former Steelers and Jets All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell has found a new home. Per ESPN, Bell has chosen to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs and join forces with Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce.
The three-time Pro-Bowler was mulling over the Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins before ultimately choosing the Super Bowl Champs.
Bell played in 17 games since following a four-year $52.4 million deal with the Jets. He was the second-highest running back in the NFL and had $35 million guaranteed. Bell only amassed 789 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, 66 receptions for 461 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown in a poor 2019 campaign. Bell missed all but two games this season with hamstring issues.
The Chiefs will now have a star to complement Clyde Edwards-Helaire‘s running game and help mentor him.
Expect him to get eased into duties over the next couple of weeks as he has not been used at full capacity since 2017.
