According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, retired tight end Rob Gronkowski has informed the New England Patriots that he is interested in returning to the NFL.
But there’s one catch: he wants to return and join Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. New England still holds the rights to the tight end, so the only way that he could join the Buccaneers would be through a trade.
Sources: Retired #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has told New England that he’s interested in playing football again — and would want to do it with the #Bucs and QB Tom Brady. A trade would have to be worked out for this to happen.

Since he announced his retirement shortly after the Patriots’ 2018 Super Bowl victory, Gronkowski has left the door open to return to football. He has spent time as an NFL analyst with FOX and also joined the WWE, going as far as winning a title at Wrestlemania a few weeks ago.
The question remains, though: will the Patriots and owner Robert Kraft grant Gronkowski his wish?
As far as Tom Brady is concerned, he’s likely chomping at the bit to get one of his favorite targets back as one of the greatest players of all-time begins a new era in Florida.
