Petrovic was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the second round as the 36th overall player in 2010. The Edmonton native has skated in 263 games at the NHL level, nine of those with the Oilers last season. In those 263 starts, the 27-year-old defenseman has totaled five goals and 45 assists for 50 points.
Petrovic took part in six playoff games with the Florida Panthers. Petrovic is a 216 lbs right-handed defenseman. As for now, the Bruins will probably try him out in the Training Camp in September. In case he impresses the Bruins coaching staff and maybe one of Charlie McAvoy or Brandon Carlo is not yet signed, Petrovic might get an NHL contract with the Bruins.
The Bruins also have to keep in mind the uncertain future of Kevan Miller, who might not be ready for the start of the regular season with his knee issues. Miller still hasn’t started skating.
