The Milwaukee Brewers bolstered their lineup once again on Wednesday evening. After acquiring Willy Adames and Rowdy Tellez earlier in the season, Milwaukee is now making an even bigger addition.

According to Zach Buchanan of The Athletic, the Arizona Diamondbacks have sent infielder Eduardo Escobar to the Brewers in exchange for Triple-A utility player Cooper Hummel and rookie-level infielder Alberto Ciprian.

Escobar, 32, has played for the Diamondbacks since coming over from the Minnesota Twins in a deal at the 2018 deadline. He then signed an extension with Arizona after raking in the dessert. He now will join the top club in the NL Central as they look to regain some power in their lineup.

The Brewers also recently lost Christian Yelich to COVID-19 and Jace Pederson as a close contact. They will benefit from the presence of Escobar, who has hit .246/.300/.478 with a .778 OPS through 98 games. He also has 22 home runs and 65 RBI this year.

The return for Arizona is headlined by Cooper Hummel, an outfielder who can also play first base and catcher. Hummel is slashing .254/.435/.508 with a .942 OPS through 46 games at Triple-A. The other player is shortstop Alberto Ciprian, an 18-year-old in the lower levels of Minor League Baseball who is hitting .378/.465/.514 with a .979 OPS through 12 games.
