Danny Ainge has made a huge splash to start off this year’s trade deadline for the Boston Celtics. As first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Orlando Magic are sending shooting guard Evan Fournier to the Boston Celtics in exchange for two second-round picks.

This trade gives Boston a deeper roster. Fournier is capable of either starting or coming off the bench for the team. The veteran guard is averaging 14.4 points on 45-37-80 shooting splits. The nine-year veteran has been a consistent scoring option in his seven years with the Magic.

For Boston, Fournier comes into a team that is struggling to find scoring spurts outside of their duo. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown needed another option, who is capable of knocking down the three-ball. Fournier is a consistent shooter and is able to create his own shot. This move bolsters a struggling offense and creates more room for other trades to occur.

Boston spent lightly to obtain the veteran guard, only giving up two second-round picks. A very cheap way to obtain a possible third option for the team. Danny Ainge does not seem to be done after this trade, as the team is still linked to multiple players before today’s 3 P.M. est deadline. Harrison Barnes remains a target for Ainge and the Boston front office.
