Report: Belichick May be Interested in Leaving for Rival Team

Fake news floats around a lot these days but a rumor that has everyone guessing if it’s true or false is if New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has a desire to coach elsewhere.

MSN.com reported that a source close to Belichick stating that there’s indeed a possibility that he would agree to become the head coach of the New York Giants if the opportunity was presented given his history with the organization.

“He wants to be the Giants coach. I know that for a fact,” the source said to MSN.com. “That would be pretty cool. My guess is if he wants out, the Giants already know. He would be great with Gettleman. Bill is a football guy. Gettleman is a football guy.”

The anonymous source made it clear that with his time running out in the sport, Belichick knows that it is the perfect opportunity to go to “the only place he wants to be.”

“I’m sure Bill [Belichick] knows this is his last chance to be the Giants coach,” the source said. “Bill sees an opening — an opening to get to the Giants.”

Again the reasoning behind Belichick possibly leaving the Patriots is confusing. Why would you go somewhere to start fresh when you have already built something here? His children roam the sidelines and the front office as Steven Belichick is the safeties coach and Brian Belichick is a scouting assistant.

The organization seems ready to be passed down the proverbial family tree and there’s nothing that goes on throughout the building as everyone knows who’s boss.

Has the tension between he, quarterback Tom Brady, and owner Robert Kraft escalated to the point where Belichick at his age would rather start over than try and resolve the issue?

Could this just be overblown? Absolutely. But could it also be true? Unfortunately for Patriots fans, it very well could be.
