The Miami Heat are one win away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 2014. They defeated the Boston Celtics 112-109. Just like the previous three games, this one went down to the wire. However, the Heat was still able to pull away with the victory with clutch free throws. Miami now leads the series 3-1. They’ve only lost two games this postseason so far.
Here are my takeaways from Wednesday’s game.
Big game Tyler
The biggest story of the night was Tyler Herro. He was clearly the best player on the floor, taking over for extended stretches. He was very aggressive on the offensive end. He didn’t care one guarded him. With about four minutes left in the fourth quarter, he launched a three-pointer right in Marcus Smart‘s grill. With the way Herro was playing, you wouldn’t have noticed if he was a rookie. The 20-year old has now scored double figures in every game this postseason.
This performance is going down in the HEAT playoff books.

Herro finished with a career-high 37 points on 14 of 21 shooting for the night.
Butler aggressive
Last game, there was talk about Jimmy being too passive. But this time Jimmy Butler out aggressive from the start, scoring the game’s first basket. He had 11 points at the half with 10 field goal attempts. His 10 first-half field goal attempts were tied for the most by either team. He kept it going in the second half. His free throws ended up clinching the win for the Heat.

Butler finished with 24 points and nine rebounds
Bam continues to give Boston trouble
Boston has been having trouble slowing down Bam Adebayo. Through the first three games of the series, Adebayo is averaging 22 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. He’s also shooting 59 percent from the field. Defending opposing big men in pick-and-roll situations has been an issue for the Celtics. And Bam has been taking advantage of that. He did it again in Game 4. Bam was also relentless on the boards on both ends of the floor.
Adebayo finished the night with 20 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals.
Change in rotation
Miami made some adjustments in their rotation on Wednesday. Instead of playing another big, they went small with Andre Iguodala playing the five. The team wanted to go with a smaller and quicker lineup. The Heat also played Solomon Hill, who made his first appearance this postseason. The change pushed Kendrick Nunn and Kelly Olynyk out of the rotation.
The Heat got 40 points off the bench, with 37 of them coming from Herro.
