Miami Heat Heating Up

Tuesday featured a good, old-fashioned New York Knicks versus Miami Heat game. The clash was low scoring with more defensive plays from both sides. Down to the wire, Miami was able to escape with a key defensive stop. With the win, Miami moved to 10-14 on the season.

Here are three takeaways from Tuesday’s game.

Jimmy Butler does it all

Jimmy Butler was the best player on the floor. He set the tone early by attacking the paint and drawing fouls. At times, it looked like he was on an island by himself offensively. The team struggled when he was off the floor. Butler also played hard on the defensive end, diving for loose balls. The game ball most definitely goes to Butler.

Butler finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.

Bam overcomes struggles

The Heat’s other All-Star struggled in the first half. At times, Bam Adebayo was nonexistent. He couldn’t get anything going inside the paint. The length of the Knicks’ frontcourt played a role in that. He did, however, fill up the box score in the second half. With the shots not falling, Adebayo kept returning to the line for free throws. It wasn’t a good game for the Heat star, but he stayed with it.

Adebayo finished with 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

Good Kelly Olynyk

Kelly Olynyk is an interesting player. There are nights when he provides hot shooting and others when his results are subpar. On Tuesday, the team got the good Kelly Olynyk. He shot five-for-six from beyond the arc in the first half, keeping Miami afloat in the second quarter. Most importantly, he had his feet set when shooting. Normally, he tries to shoot off-balance which leads to bad shooting nights. He also wasn’t bad on the defensive end.

Olynyk finished the night with 20 points and three rebounds.
