Without their top three players, the Miami Heat were in for a battle. However, the team came prepared and competed hard. They had the opportunity to close the game in regulation but the Philadelphia 76ers went on another run to send it to overtime. In the end, the 76ers came out on top. With the loss, Miami falls to 4-5 for the season.
Here are my three takeaways from Tuesday’s loss in Philadelphia.
Herro leads the way
Without their top playmakers, the Heat had to depend on Tyler Herro to carry the burden. He had a quiet first half but came alive in the fourth quarter and overtime. He scored at all three levels. At one point, he went toe to toe with 76ers all-star Joel Embiid. It was a great confidence booster for the Heat guard.

Herro finished with 34 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Too much Embiid
Without Bam Adebayo, Miami was going to have a hard time defending Joel Embiid. Miami did a great job defending him in the first half with their quick traps. But the big man wasn’t going to be quiet for too long. He single handily brought the 76ers back from a double-digit deficit with a huge third quarter. Embiid scored 20 points on eight-of-eight shooting in the period.
Embiid finished with 45 points and 16 rebounds.
Vincent takes advantage of the opportunity
With so many players out, it gave other players the opportunity to play huge minutes. And one of those players was Gabe Vincent. Vincent started the game for the Heat as the starting point guard. While Vincent displayed his shooting abilities, he also showed there was more to his game. Vincent used his craftiness to attack the basket. With the way Vincent has looked this season, Kendrick Nunn could be even more expendable.

Vincent closed the game with 24 points and three assists.
