Legendary Raiders coach John Madden himself graced the cover of the Madden video game series from 1988 to 2000. Madden 2001 was the first to feature a player when the cover donned Titans running back Eddie George.
The list from then on includes four Hall of Famers and a handful of future Hall of Famers. Eight quarterbacks, five running backs and four wide receivers have graced the covers, including pair of players from the Seahawks, Patriots, Steelers, Lions, and Titans.
It’s been both a blessing and a curse to grace the cover of the only licensed NFL video game as freak injuries and bad seasons have been blamed on Madden.
Here’s my rank of the players who have appeared on the cover, from bottom to top.
