Final Score: Rams 33, Titans 19

The Rams entered this contest heavily favored despite injuries to their offensive line, while the Titans looked to correct Week 1 mistakes to keep themselves competitive. Tennessee’s defense mostly held strong in the first half, but the Los Angeles offense proved too much for them to handle after halftime. Matthew Stafford led the charge for L.A., completing 23 of 33 passes for 298 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Puka Nacua put the Rams on the board in the first quarter with a 45-yard rushing touchdown on 4th-and-1. The Titans’ defense held the Rams to just a field goal for the remainder of the first half, while the offense appeared to start clicking. Cam Ward delivered an impressive across-the-body touchdown strike to fellow rookie Elic Ayomanor, the first career touchdown for both players.

With the score tied 10-10 near the end of the second quarter, Tennessee linebacker Cody Barton intercepted a pass from Stafford. This gave the Titans a chance to take the lead before the half, and they cashed in the turnover with a field goal. However, many fans were frustrated with the conservative play-calling from head coach Brian Callahan on the final drive. Still, the Titans led 13-10 at the half.

The second half seemed like a completely different game with Los Angeles outscoring Tennessee, 23-6. Stafford carved up the Titans’ defense, completing passes to six different receivers. Davante Adams had his first 100-yard game as a Ram, including a 16-yard touchdown reception in the fourth. Meanwhile, the Titans’ offense was mostly stagnant, hamstrung by continued offensive line woes. Ward was sacked five times in the contest for a total of 11 sacks in his first two contests.

Highlights

Looking Forward

The Rams’ victory brings them to 2-0 and keeps them tied for first in the NFC West. Tennessee drops to 0-2 and is tied for last in the AFC South. Next week, the Rams will take on a red-hot Eagles team in Philadelphia. The Titans remain at home for a matchup against division rival Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.
