Premier League DFS Lineup Plays: (1/16/21)

After missing out on Premier League action this past weekend due to the FA Cup schedule, it’s time to delve back into it. There are five games on the slate for Saturday, including the fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. We will also get a clash of South West London clubs when Chelsea and Fulham meet up for their match.

So without further ado, let’s get straight into the DFS player options for this upcoming group of matches. I’ve broken down the selections between forward, midfield, defense, goalkeeper, and utility. Best of luck to everyone with their lineups this weekend.

Forward

Pedro Neto ($18,300 DK)

Although Neto has gone goalless over the past five games, he has still been able to make up production through other avenues. Consider his previous game against Everton. In that game, the forward created four scoring chances to go along with three successful crosses (racking up 16 points). He now gets a squad in West Brom that has plenty of holes in which to exploit. If that Wolves attacking front comes to play on Saturday, they should be able to create numerous set piece opportunities for Neto.

Midfielder

Ruben Neves ($13,500 DK)

Scoring at least nine or more points in each of the last half dozen meetings, Neves has been able to put his prior struggles behind him. And having managed to hit pay dirt in his prior two games. Neves now a great opportunity set up against West Bromwich. In fact, over their prior two games against Arsenal and Leeds United, West Brom has conceded four and five goals, respectively. With the Baggies defensive structure performing like a virtual sieve as of late, pairing up Neves with Neto could be the wise play.

Defense

Ben Chilwell ($5,800 DK)

Chilwell has been one of the more steady defenders over the past few meetings. Nothing overly flashy but serviceable, which can certainly be hard to find with a lot of fantasy defenders. In Chelsea’s recent game against Aston Villa, Chilwell supplied the assist in their one all draw. Currently sharing set piece duties with midfielder Mason Mount he could be especially useful this week. This also considers Fulham ranks third-worst in goals allowed through penalty, giving Chilwell added opportunities to make his mark on the score sheet.

Goalkeeper

Alex McCarthy ($4,300 DK)

After a period of isolation due to Covid, McCarthy has returned to team training ahead of Saturday’s game with Leicester City and will be ready to roll. While I expect this to be a tough match, the keeper should put forth a sound performance given the opportunity. Look for this game to be a stingy defensive battle for both sides, leaving McCarthy with solid opportunity in which to come away with a potential shutout.

Consider that McCarthy sits second among league goalkeepers in clean sheets this season with seven. Additionally, he has five-straight sixth-or- better point showings. Currently, Southampton holds down seventh position in the league table. Just three points of upcoming opponent Leicester, this game holds certain significance with both clubs gunning for a spot in European qualification.

Utility

Neal Maupay (5,700 DK)

Maupay has shown to be a bit of a gamble given his spotty usage over the past four weeks. However, when been given quality starting minutes, he has shown to be a very solid contributor. Maupay has started in two of the prior four games, and in each of those opportunities has managed to hit pay dirt. Now he faces a club in Leeds that’s certainly vulnerable on the back end, having come off a 3-0 loss to Tottenham. As of this writing, Maupay is listed in Brighton’s starting 11 and expected to get the nod.
