The Dallas Cowboys travel to Chicago, Ill., to face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the Week 14 Thursday Night Football game. The Cowboys lead the series 13-11, have won the last two, and are expected to win Thursday night with a 57.4 percent win probability. The Cowboys, after being humbled by the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day, still lead the NFC East over the Philadelphia Eagles and victories in the last four games of the season are essential for the Cowboys to win their division and continue in the playoffs.
Dallas Cowboys Notables
Dak Prescott has recorded 298 of 447 completed passes for 3,788 yards, 23 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 99.8 rating so far this season. Ezekiel Elliott leads with 227 carries for 990 yards and seven touchdowns, while Amari Cooper has received 64 passes for 971 yards and has also posted seven touchdowns on the season. Robert Quinn leads the Cowboys with nine-and-a-half sacks and Xavier Woods leads the teams with two interceptions. Brett Maher has a perfect extra point record on the season but has missed key field goal attempts in the last two games; he has 19 of 28 successful three-point tries this season.
Offense
Prescott recorded 355 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the game against Buffalo and has posted five games with 350 or more pass yards, which is the most in the league this season. In the last meeting, Prescott posted two touchdowns for a 123.6 rating and has 23 touchdowns versus six interceptions for a 111.1 rating in his last nine career starts versus the NFC North.
Elliott posted 137 scrimmage yards in Week 13 and is going for his third game in a row with 125 or more scrimmage yards. In his last meeting with the Bears, he recorded 160 scrimmage yards and has 351 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in three career road games versus the NFC North.
Cooper recorded eight catches for 85 receiving yards against Buffalo, has 120 or more receiving yards in addition to a touchdown catch in three of his last four games against the NFC North, and posted a touchdown in his only career game against Chicago.
Michael Gallup is going for his fourth game in a row on the road with 50 or more receiving yards while Randall Cobb has posted 360 receiving yards and two touchdowns his last four games in addition to recording five touchdown catches in his past six games against the Bears.
Defense
Quinn is going for his third road game in a row with at least one sack. He has four-and-a-half sacks in his past five games versus the NFC North, is going for his third in a row against the NFC North with a sack, and has recorded a forced fumble in the last two of three games against Chicago.
Jaylon Smith posted a career-high 14 tackles last week against Buffalo and is going for his fourth road game in a row with eight or more tackles. Jourdan Lewis had his first career game with two sacks in Week 13.
In the beginning of the season, the Cowboys went 3-0 but then lost three in a row and posted inconsistent wins in the weeks following. In order for the Cowboys to stay in playoff contention, the team must shut out the outside noise about the owners and the coaches and figure out what they did in the first three games to get back to victories.
Chicago Bears Notables
Chicago comes into this week following a win against Detroit in Week 13. Mitchell Trubisky has completed 230 of 361 passes for 2,196 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions for an 84.4 rating. Rookie David Montgomery has 172 carries for 594 yards and five touchdowns and Allen Robinson has 71 receptions for 850 yards and five touchdowns. Khalil Mack leads the Bears with six-and-a-half sacks while Kyle Fuller has three interceptions on the season. Eddy Pineiro has posted 21 of 23 successful extra points and 15 of 20 successful field goal attempts.
Offense
In Trubisky’s last three of four starts at home, he has recorded a touchdown pass and passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns versus one interception for a 118.1 rating last week against the Lions.
Montgomery, the rookie running back, posted 87 scrimmage yards and his first career receiving touchdown in Week 13, and has recorded 60 or more scrimmage yards in his last two of three games at home.
Tarik Cohen is going for his fifth game in a row with four or more receptions, while Anthony Miller set a career-high last week with nine catches and 140 receiving yards last week for his second career 100-yard game.
Robinson recorded eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown last week and is going for his third game in a row with 85 or more receiving yards and a touchdown catch. In the last four of five games against the NFC East, Robinson has five or more receptions.
Javon Wims had an impressive week against Detroit when he recorded career-highs in catches and receiving yards. Rookie Jesper Horsted posted his first career receiving touchdown last week, as well.
Defense
Khalil Mack has recorded eight sacks, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in eight career games against the NFC East and posted two sacks in his only career game against Dallas when he was with Oakland.
Roquan Smith led the Bears last week with a career-high 15 tackles and also had his first career game with two sacks in the same game. In Smith’s last four of five games, he has recorded 10 or more tackles.
Kyle Fuller has had a pass deflection in his last five of six games and has seven pass deflections and three interceptions in seven career games versus the NFC East. Prince Amukamara has recorded four pass deflections and an interception in his last four games against Dallas.
Safety Eddie Jackson had his first interception of the season last week, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has posted three pass deflections in addition to two interceptions, including a 37-yard pick-six, in his last three games against an NFC East opponent.
