Freshman Carl Pierre scored a career-high 25 points to lead UMass past Maine, 74-63, on Friday.
In the first half, Pierre sunk four of five attempts from beyond the arc, and notched 16 points as the Minutemen led 40-15 at the break and cruised the rest of the way.

Pierre added three more treys in the second half, including two in 1:03 span, to put UMass up, 48-19, with 16:45 remaining.
The Minutemen shot 51.9 percent from the field and 54.2 percent from 3-point land in th win.
UMass is back in action on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on the road against St. Bonaventure (10-2) as it opens A 10 play.
