Your fantasy football season is fast approaching. There is no better way to prepare for a draft than by going through a mock draft. Here, I will break down a 16-round mock from the 10th overall selection. This draft was a 10-team superflex draft with half-PPR scoring. The starting lineup features one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, one tight end, one flex, one superflex, one defense, and one kicker.
This will be a series with brand new mocks being released throughout August and September. You can find all of the other mocks at this link. The series will feature eight total mocks ranging by format (half-PPR, full PPR, 10-team, 12-team, superflex, and non-superflex).
Pick 1.10: Nick Chubb (RB5)
As an avid Nick Chubb truther, taking him with the 10th pick was a no-brainer. He’s a vicious runner whom the Browns’ offense is centered around. While he’s not a phenomenal pass-catcher, the Georgia product makes up for it with his ability on the ground and a strong nose for the end zone.
Also Considered: Tyreek Hill, Aaron Jones
Pick 2.01: Tyreek Hill (WR1)
Taking a quarterback was a consideration here, but Hill ended up being the eventual pick. The speed demon is one of the focal points in the best offense in football, and Patrick Mahomes enjoys finding him in the end zone on both short and deep throws. There are many key mouths to feed in Kansas City, but that has yet to prevent Hill from putting up big numbers.

Pick 3.10: Aaron Rodgers (QB7)
Getting the seventh-best quarterback with the 30th pick in a superflex draft is an attractive scenario. After a long stretch of offseason drama, Rodgers is back with the Packers for one more season. While the future Hall of Famer lacks elite mobility, he does have a fabulous passing ability that will be put on a display in a unit that features Davante Adams and Robert Tonyan.

Pick 4.01: David Montgomery (RB12)
Montgomery lands in my lap for the second consecutive mock draft. This time, he’s my RB2 rather than RB1. That makes this whole thing even more exciting. The Bears are going to give huge volume to Montgomery regardless of who is at quarterback. The third-year back is primed for a big season.

Pick 5.10: Chris Godwin (WR13)
Godwin represents a very strong WR2 option. He’s playing in a Super Bowl-winning offense captained by Tom Brady and should see significant volume once again this year. It is not out of the realm of possibilities that Godwin leads the Buccaneers in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2021.
Also Considered: Baker Mayfield, James Robinson
Pick 6.01: Baker Mayfield (QB13)
Mayfield presents a strong QB2 option, especially with Odell Beckham Jr. returning from injury in great shape. Some might argue that Chubb hurts Mayfield’s value, but the fact of the matter is that he plays a role in helping this offense move forward and stay on the field. This, in turn, aids Mayfield. He’s heading for another strong season.
Also Considered: James Robinson, Kirk Cousins
Pick 7.10: James Robinson (RB16)
Prior to the last week or so, I wanted nothing to do with Robinson at all. While he’s still a poor asset to pursue in dynasty leagues, he’s worth selecting in the seventh round of a redraft league. The second-year back put on a show last season and offers both rushing and receiving upside for the Jaguars.
Also Considered: Brandon Aiyuk, Odell Beckham Jr.
Pick 8.01: Brandon Aiyuk (WR20)
It was tough deciding between Aiyuk or Beckham here, but the former was the eventual decision. He showed game-changing ability last season and put up impressive numbers at the end of the year. There are questions about what this offense will look like when healthy, but the 49ers would be foolish not to rely on Aiyuk at a frequent rate.

Pick 9.10: Ronald Jones II (RB21)
Jones is someone who has quietly climbed up my rankings into RB2 territory. The Buccaneers running back demonstrates impressive speed and had a big season overall last year, although his week-to-week results were fairly inconsistent. Even if I can’t trust Jones for every single game, I feel incredibly good about getting him as my fourth back.
Also Considered: Jaylen Waddle, Gus Edwards
Pick 10.01: Jaylen Waddle (WR32)
Waddle is one of the biggest steals in all of fantasy football right now. Compared to Tyreek Hill during the draft process, Waddle should finish as the top receiver in an offense that is trending upwards. There’s nothing stopping Waddle from elevating into WR2 territory by the middle of the season.
Also Considered: Gus Edwards, Derek Carr
Pick 11.10: Gus Edwards (RB25)
Once again, Gus Edwards was available since the mock draft simulator hadn’t fully adjusted to the J.K. Dobbins injury yet. This roster is very running back-heavy, but Edwards represents a nice depth piece that should see significant yardage and red-zone usage in 2021.
Also Considered: Mike Williams, Phillip Lindsay, Derek Carr
Pick 12.01: Mike Williams (WR38)
Williams is one of this year’s top breakout candidates and potential league-winners. The Chargers’ offense now features more stability thanks to Justin Herbert, and Williams could be the biggest benefactor. He is an exciting wide receiver option who should have FLEX or WR2 status on a weekly basis as long as he can stay healthy.

Pick 13.10: Jonnu Smith (TE15)
Waiting on a tight end is often a very safe decision. Smith fell in my lap here at the 13/14 turn. The former Titan signed with the Patriots this offseason and should see a significant target share due to New England’s lack of an established receiving corps.
Also Considered: Derek Carr, Adam Trautman, Jakobi Meyers
Pick 14.01: Derek Carr (QB17)
It’s important to get a third quarterback in superflex leagues, so before addressing defense and kicker, I snagged Carr. While not a sexy option, the Raiders’ quarterback has posted solid fantasy numbers and should find stability in a passing game that has several strong weapons, headlined by Darren Waller.

Pick 15.10: New England Patriots (D/ST6)
The Patriots led the league in interceptions last year and were one of the best defenses in football despite missing several playmakers due to opt-outs. These players returned, Matthew Judon joined the team, and the Patriots addressed their defensive line during free agency and the draft. Now, the unit is primed to display another top-10 finish this season.
Also Considered: Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers
Pick 16.01: Jason Sanders (K3)
Sanders was very reliable on an offense that seemed to stall inside the red zone last year. Sanders should see a significant workload in 2021, and he has already proven that he can consistently put the ball between the goalposts.
Also Considered: Rodrigo Blankenship, Daniel Carlson
Parting Thoughts
I feel very, very good about how this draft went down. Adding one more round (or taking one fewer running back or receiver) would have been nice so that I could have snagged a second tight end to complement Smith. However, sacrifices have to be made in every draft. At the end of the day, this looks like a very strong, championship-winning lineup full of mainly safe options.
