Patriots Place Rookie on IR, Activate McCarron

The New England Patriots aren’t catching any breaks with their rookies as cornerback Duke Dawson has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweeted out the news however stating that the Patriots were indeed placing their second round selection on the reserve list but also gave fans the encouraging news that he may return.

The official rule states that NFL teams can bring back two players back off the injured reserved list and all signs are pointing towards the Patriots using one of their spots for the Florida alum.

The Patriots also announced that they are promoting wide receiver Riley McCarron from the practice squad.

The team now has six receivers active in Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Cordarrelle Patterson, Chad Hansen, Riley McCarron, and Matthew Slater.
