The New England Patriots defense is receiving praised left and right for its performance on the field, but some of its members are getting nods off of it.
Per Adam Schefter, The National Football League Player’s Association named Deatrich Wise Jr. community MVP for his work off the gridiron.
New England DE Deatrich Wise Jr. named Week 6 NFLPA Community MVP for hosting a free block party at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s Mattapan Teen Center and pledging to donate $10,000 back to the community.

Wise, 25, was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and since arriving has been a community staple.
Along with the free block party, the Arkansas alum has done countless autograph signings and public appearances.
On the field, he has 62 career tackles, 10.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
