The former Cleveland Brown spent six seasons in Ohio, appearing in 73 games. He was a team captain from 2017 through 2019 and had 281 tackles between 2016 and 2017, which was the second-most by any NFL player.
The 27-year-old is now reunited with one of his favorite coaches, Mike Pettine, who was his coach when drafted by Cleveland.
Kirksey was a hot commodity after his release last week by Cleveland. He reportedly visited by the Bills, Raiders, and Packers.
The Packers needed him most as their defense was in desperate need of an inside linebacker. This also takes Green Bay out of the running for former Rams linebacker Cory Littleton, who was expected to be pursued by the Packers. Littleton is one of the best available free agents.
