Offseason Objective: Get Healthy

Chris Sale Boston Red Sox

Following a season that saw injuries galore to key positions, one of the biggest offseason objectives for the Boston Red Sox is to simply get healthy. I

It all starts with pitching, and news regarding Chris Sale has been very limited thus far. But his health is the biggest key to him returning to All-Star form. His play was impacted greatly throughout the season. Even when it looked as though he had figured it out, it came to a crashing halt. His 6-11 record and 4.40 ERA is unlike the Ace we’re all used to seeing every fifth day.

He last pitched for the club on Aug. 13.

“The arm feels really good. He’s reported back to us and told us that he expects this to be a completely normal offseason,” Sale’s agent told Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.

Another face who needs to be healthy is Nathan Eovaldi. The fireballer never had it right after inking his not-so fan-favorite contract. Whether he even remains on the roster is to be seen.

Dustin Pedroia is another face that needs to figure out his situation. It’s been an on-again-off-again battle that quite frankly has to end at some point. Will he stay and play, or will he call it quits? These are the questions that will be decided this season.

Injuries derailed the 2019 Red Sox. While durability might not have solved their inconsistencies, the flaw proved to be fatal in the second half of the season. With that in mind, the main objective for Boston has to be getting their key players healthy for next season.
