The Boston Bruins, as well as the rest of the League, are only 20 days away from the trade deadline. The Bruins are believed to be among those teams trying to acquire a big-time offensive help. There is no pressure to execute a trade right now, as the Bruins can still wait and see.
The Bruins have been connected with many names like Chris Kreider, Tyler Toffoli, or Ilya Kovalchuk over the past few weeks.
The NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun tips the Bruins to acquire Ondrej Kase from the Anaheim Ducks. Per LeBrun, the return from Boston to Anaheim would be a third-round draft pick and forward Oskar Steen.
Firstly, that would probably be a starter in such negotiations. Perhaps a second-round draft pick going the Ducks’ way would be more reasonable.
Kase would fit in the Bruins lineup. The 24-year-old Czech winger would mesh well with his fellow countryman David Krejci on the second line. The Bruins would get exactly what they need – a right-shot right-winger to play with Krejci on that second line.
Kase has the salary-cap hit of $2.6 million per campaign until July 2021, when he will become a restricted free agent. That’s affordable for Boston. The right-winger has been selected in the seventh round in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, the same draft year as David Pastrnak. In 195 NHL games, Kase has gathered 42 goals and 52 assists for 94 points.
This season, the Czech forward has six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 46 games. Kase averages 16:45 of the ice-time per game, which is career-high. His CF percentage is at 52.2 and his offensive zone start percentage at 56.9 at even strength seems to prove his quality play.
Nevertheless, Kase has been dealing with some injuries in the past, as he has completed only 30 games in the 2018-19 season. Kase also has only nine hits this season.
